As a filmmaker, Altay’s urge is to craft strong images and guide the emotions that emerge when these visuals interact with the audience. He is the Co-Founder and Director of an alternative cinema, art and media collective. Meddah Jiggy, established in Istanbul, aspires to bring the underground scene to light by collaborating with unafraid story-tellers, artists and record labels. In his street photography, he uses wide-angle lenses, getting close to subjects and highlighting the physical distances between people by placing them at the different edges of the frame. Lately, he’s been immersed in macro filmmaking, capturing conflicts between insects, and revealing their world.

In July 2023, Altay participated in the “Zu Verschenken” residency.
